Tommy Ludgate has just released her debut album Wall of Words. Voted as the top artist of 1000 on website slicethepie.com, Tommy was awarded £15,000 to make the album. Slicethepie enables artists to raise money directly from their fans to professionally record and release an album. Since winning the competition in November 2008, Tommy has been hard at work with her band (Hamish Balfour on keys, James Stelling on guitar, Tiernan Godel on bass, Ed Hopwood on drums) preparing to make the record, which is a self-release on her label Noodlehead Music. Produced by Tom Kelly – who has worked with artists such as Nerina Pallot, All Angels, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Puppini Sisters and Yusuf Islam - Wall of Words was released on 6th October. The final mix was done by four times Grammy Award Winner Hugh Padgham – Sting and The Police, Genesis, Phil Collins and McFly.

Possessed of a voice that is as rich and soulful as it is cool and expressive; Tommy can deliver a ballad to break your heart but equally can uplift you with a funky blues inspired tune. She melds her influences together with the end product being an outstandingly rich and rustic tone that is perfectly tailored to carry her message subtly, but not lightly.

Absorbing herself in everyone from Eva Cassidy and Sam Brown to Stevie Wonder and John Mayer, Tommy has naturally been drawn to classic songs sung by incredible voices; this is what she aspires to. Having built up a collection of Bluesy pop originals with a hint of funk, Tommy has been gigging around London with her band for the past two years and making a name for herself on the ‘singer-songwriter’ circuit - including playing at prestigious venues such; Shepherds Bush Empire, The Troubadour, The Cobden Club and The Soho Revue Bar.
