Presenter Jameela Jamil: “We have got a brand new entry at No 2. To explain more, here is Newsbeat’s music reporter Sinead Garvan.

Garvan: “Tributes poured in across the world for Margaret Thatcherwhen she died on Monday, but there were also people throwing street parties around the UK.

“An online campaign began in 2007 to try to get this song, Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead, to No 1 in the charts the week Lady Thatcher died.”

(A seven-second clip of the song)

Garvan: “Margaret Thatcher was Britain’s first female prime minister and the longest-serving of the 20th century. She strongly divided political and public opinion.

“Critics accused her of putting millions out of work and not caring about the poor during her time in charge.

“There were many that loved her who say she changed the UK for the better by taking Britain’s then-failing economy and making it successful.

“The full track is just 51 seconds long and is taken from the 1930s film the Wizard of Oz. Much like Margaret Thatcher’s political career, this song divided opinion. Some politicians have said it is disrespectful to play it while others say it’s fine to because she stood for freedom and allowing people to have their say.

“Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper made the decision not to play the track in full. Many of you have been telling us what you think.”

Vox pop: “What’s disrespectful maybe is the parties celebrating her death but this is quite funny, I don’t see what the harm is.”

Second vox pop: “I think it’s disgraceful no matter what you think about Margaret Thatcher’s policy. At the end of the day, you have got to show a little bit of respect.”

THE WHO has announced a UK arena tour where they’ll perform their iconic 1973 double album QUADROPHENIA in its entirety, along with a selection of WHO classics.

The critically acclaimed QUADROPHENIA marked the British band’s second rock opera (after Tommy), raised the bar for rock albums as an art form, hit #2 on the UK album chart and massively influenced the future of UK style, fashion and culture ‘ from Paul Weller to Bradley Wiggins, from Paul Smith to Noel Gallagher.

The album’s title is a variation on the popular usage of the medical diagnostic term schizophrenia and exemplifies the four varying personalities of the band members who created the album. It features such classic WHO songs as ‘The Real Me,’ ‘5:15′ and ‘Love Reign o’er Me.’

The film QUADROPHENIA starred a young Sting, Phil Daniels, Ray Winstone, Trevor Laird and Lesley Ash. John Lydon (Rotten) was screen tested for a part, but the idea was dropped when insurance became an issue!

This new concert version of QUADROPHENIA, personally directed by Roger Daltrey, focuses on the original album and replaces the narrative used in previous stage versions with powerful imagery projected on an array of massive screens, designed to support, complement and propel the musical content of the work by setting it in the context of the history of the band.

The Who’s tour features founding members ROGER DALTREY and PETE TOWNSHEND, who will be joined by Zak Starkey (drums), Pino Palladino (bass), Simon Townshend (guitar/backing vocals), John Corey (keyboards), Loren Gold (keyboards/backing vocals) and Frank Simes (musical director, keyboards/backing vocals).

THE WHO QUADROPHENIA AND MORE UK TOUR 2013:

June 8th Dublin The O2
June 10th	Belfast Odyssey
June 12th Glasgow SECC
June 15rd London The O2
June 18th Sheffield Motorpoint Arena
June 20th Newcastle Metro Arena
June 23rd Manchester Arena
June 25th Cardiff Motorpoint Arena
June 28th Birmingham LG Arena
June 30th Liverpool Echo Arena

So the ‘Rumours’ which had been doing the rounds have now been silenced and UK Mac fans face a long flight to see their idols this summer.

Still only one act, Malian singer Rokia Traore, has been confirmed so far as part of “an act of solidarity with the musicians from Mali”, where Islamists in the north have banned music.

An artist from the country will open the Pyramid Stage each day.

The Rolling Stones are the other big rumour for this summer’s event which takes place June 26-30.

HMV’s debt has been bought by ‘restructuring specialist’ Hilco.

Hilco bought the high street music retailer’s debt from their lenders Lloyds and Royal Bank of Scotland. The debt has to be purchased in order for any company to take full control of HMV, reports BBC News.

HMV owed £176 million, but because the company is in administration, Hilco would have paid less than this in making the first step to acquiring the business.

Hilco – who bought out HMV Canada in 2011 – confirmed in a statement that they hadn’t yet bought the business: “Hilco UK confirms that it has acquired HMV’s debt from the group’s lenders. It has not bought the business itself.”

They continued: “Hilco believes there to be a viable underlying HMV business and will now be working closely with Deloitte who, as administrators, are reviewing the business to determine future options.”

From today (January 22), HMV will begin accepting gift vouchers again.

Many customers were left angry after the company revealed they would not honour vouchers after it went into administration last week.

However, a new statement from Nick Edwards of administrators Deloitte promised that gift vouchers will be honoured.

The situation over vouchers saw tempers flare in one HMV store. Thames Valley police confirmed that they had been called to an incident at an HMV store in Oxford after a dispute over a gift card between two customers and staff.
