So what else is ‘New’ at Band Republic Towers we you ask? Well very shortly you will be able to get voting all over again as we begin another cycle of new bands. You will have the usual 5-8 eclectic bands/artists for you to peruse and choose your favourite to sign to the record label. Don’t forget that our aim is to begin breaking NEW bands or artists into the UK Top 40 on a regular basis. It all comes down to enthusing you our members to not only want to vote but to also purchase the single at the end of each voting cycle. Suggestions please of what sort of things you would like as an incentive to help run ‘the people’s record label’.

Band Republic 11th May Peter Parkers Rock’n’Roll Club
Tuesday night was the beginning of Band Republics Live presence on Central London’s Denmark Street. The night proved to be an instant success with a fantastic vibe and an audience who listened and enjoyed all of the artists performing. First up was singer songwriter Brooke Supple performing her own songs with the backing of her guitar assisted by backing from a Ukulele. Brooke’s great vocals really shone through and managed to have the audience enthralled during her first set of three songs. It was obvious that Brooke has great potential as both singer and songwriter as well as the presence and showmanship to shine onstage. Next up we had Josh Flowers who has moved down to London from Leeds. Josh’s set was interesting and heartfelt and really brought the audience into his World gaining a hush throughout the room as they listened to his warm ballads as they witnessed an artist whom will only grow as he gigs more and more. Josh’s Bob Dylan cover was very well received and with the added backing from Cajon and backing vocals finished his 1st set on a high. Following on from Josh Flowers, Paul Adams took to the stage. It was interesting to see someone whom was clearly vastly experienced onstage and had the confidence and songs to wow the crowd trying out both brand new, 1 song was written the night before, and songs from his vast repertoire. All very well received. In all the quality of the night was of the highest caliber as the night flowed quickly from artist to artist really giving the audience an amazing night. It was really interesting to see the audience completely enthralled by all of the artists and not doing the typical London thing of chatting loudly during performances. The 1st half was brought to a close with the only band of the evening, albeit a two piece called Philadelphia mainline. These guys were loud, and had the composure and vigour to pull off a much bigger sound than a two piece would normally generate. Their bluesy set was very much in keeping with the setting of Peter Parkers and the history attached to the room as they brought the first half to a very ‘loud’ close leaving the audience very much wanting more. Well with the way that band republic’s Live nights work that’s exactly what the enthusiastic crowd got. Having now been warmed up by great performances and booze the 2nd half of the evening flew by with each of the previous performers taking to the stage again. It was a testament to all of them how they managed to gauge the atmosphere and sustain the audiences attention throughout. As a great finale to the evening Brooke Supple took to the stage and performed three effortless covers as chosen for by the audience on the night. Performing with a massive smile on her face it was obvious that not only had the performers really enjoyed themselves but the audience as a whole had too. It was a testament to how the night runs, giving the punters an eclectic mixture of great performers and fast changeovers between acts that they really had seen a fluent night of great entertainment from all new artists.
